Every now and then you catch a break. I want to tell you this system is sweet. We pressure tested the air tanks … all is good … the idea to use the frame was killer. Killer. I am really, really pleased. Oh, have I told you lately that the A-arms look incredible?
This thing has more wires than Ma Bell. It’s hard enough to make sure that they get to where they need to be - then we have to bury the evidence. If the juice doesn’t get to the wiring harness, then the toolbox screen will be black and Pancho doesn’t get to watch his Saturday morning cartoons.
You guys know this better than anyone … doin’ what we’ve been doin’ here takes a lot of energy to keep the pace up. If your tools don’t keep up, you’ve got a serious problem. We’ve been fortunate … we absolutely could not have made this happen. Take a look at the door trim … it will mimic the wrench trim outside – very cool. We’re rockin’.
Coffee is the magic elixir isn’t it? Juan Valdez should be here to see this puppy come together. If it weren’t for his hard work down there in Columbia with the beans, my guys wouldn’t be able to keep going. It’s all down hill at this point. The weather is cooperating, we’ve got all the pieces except for a thing or two and they will be here soon. I’ve got to take this call …
It’s the details, man. We showed you the original pulley design in episode 42. After he finished machining the wheels out at BDL, Wink wanted the pulleys to take on the same look. As usual, he was right – they’re incredible. Details … details … details. I swear, it will be the difference between every other ’57 and the Glo-mad.
Wink made these incredible rims. Check out Episode 83 to see them. The thing is, he made the rear wheels 20-inch. Cool, but we are more challenged to find tires for the beast. Shoot me your thought if you have an idea. I’ll see it here. Time’s flying gotta get back to work. Nomads rule.
Steve from C&S Corvette saved us. If you guys need anything Corvette, you ought to keep these guys in your contact list. They are in Sarasota, Florida.
I love mankind. A brother helping a brother in need. I’m gonna cry.
Man there’s stuff going on everywhere. The transmission is wrapped up. Wheels will be coming. The paint booth is done. The chassis will be done before the body, but I’ve got so much help here now, I just need more of me to keep things going. I’m going to sleep for a month when this car is done.
If you didn’t see the episode, you don’t know the trouble we had installing the drive shaft. We ended up with a gap of about a half inch between the shaft and the engine. It took four hours, but I was able to make a spacer out of aluminum to fit. Whew, another disaster avoided by American ingenuity.
We’re making progress, but I need a few parts. Anyone know where to source some Nomad parts, give me a shout. Otherwise I’ve got the sanding and painting guys lined up and started, we’re just having a hang up here or there. I can’t wait to have the body shot and be in final assembly.
